The company is a private one and was established in Cape Town in 1994. Its priority focus was the processing if fish products (especially that of portion control). In fact, if you desired it we would produce it! The fishing industry in S.A. has changed dramatically over the recent past and Ocean Pride has adjusted its focus accordingly. Fishing permits are now more widely allocated and the dominance of the 2 largest processors has lessened. The weak rand has led to most fishing companies exporting their quota's and reaping healthy profits. Ocean Pride, while still having close links with the fishing industry has altered its focus to that of a distribution business. It is located in Germiston and concentrates on excellent customer service to food service customers. Its product range has also been expanded to include poultry products. More products will follow later. The food service industry in S.A. is characterized by the dominant position of only a couple of larger players. Their size has unfortunately led to profiteering, shoddy service and poor customer relations. Ocean Pride will fill the gap by offering "old fashioned values" and will foster and develop long-term relationships with customers. If you don’t love customers you don’t work here!
